If you want to support our work you could consider making a donation. All donations will go towards helping our projects and campaigns. It will particularly help us to provide online and telephone support and advice to individual fellow care leavers. For example, hundreds of care leaves contact us each year about accessing their child care files or about dealing with he contents of their files once they have got them. This important area of work is particularly difficult to get funding for because the value of care leavers engaging with their past in this way is largely unrecognised by wider society. This invaluable aspect of what we do is enormously enhanced by our frontline staff being care leavers and having accessed their own care files. We know from experience how much difference that can make to those who get in touch with us.
It is worth noting that because the CLA is a registered charity we can claim an extra 20% back from the government for every £1 you donate. That means, if you donate £10, we actually get £12.80! Here are some of the ways your donation could help:
| £5 | Will pay for an hour of volunteer time mentoring our fellow care leavers |
| £10 | Will allow us to post our guides to five care leavers who have no email |
| £20 | Will provide an hour of advocacy support for a care leaver |
| £50 | Will hire a room for a local meeting of care leavers in England and Wales |
| £100 | Will buy 1000 campaign or information leaflets on issues affecting care leavers of all ages. |

Will enable us to send our Access to Records Guide to every Social Services department in the UK, to help them build good practice in how they deal with child care file requests from care leavers. |
Donate Online
You can do this through our ‘Givewheel’ donation portal. It is reasonably easy to navigate and the money goes straight into the CLA bank account. The portal also keeps a record of all donations but we’d appreciate it if you would let us know that you have donated as that means we can thank you:
Donate via Standing Order
You can also donate to the CLA by standing order. This is a good way to give us regular support, if you feel you can afford to do so. It helps us to budget more effectively and cuts down on our administrative costs. This gives us more time to devote to our projects, services and campaigns. Donate through the post
You can of course, just use the old-fashioned method and send a donation to us via the post to: The Care Leavers’ Association, Third Floor, Swan Buildings, 20 Swan Street, Manchester, M4 5JW. We periodically receive such donations and it’s always a lovely surprise when an envelope arrives at the CLA office with a cheque in it.
