Young Person’s Project has been set up so that we can give younger care leavers the necessary advice and skills to get on in life. We offer advice and support on Leaving Care rights and entitlements, as well as signposting to services that can offer assistance.
This project aims to improve the lives of those leaving care by providing advice and guidance, meaningful interventions and advocacy support.
The leaving care process can be a challenging and confusing time for many young people. This section of our website is provides advice and information aimed at making that process less difficult. For a number of years of main focus of work was around Independent Living for Young People Leaving the Care System. This was carried out through our Peer Led Mentoring GOAL (Getting On And Living Project) Programme. The evaluation report for project ran in Calderdale can be downloaded here. Attending Further and Higher Education is great way to progress in life and as a Young Care Leaver you are entitled to support from your Local Authority until you are 25. You can find more information about your Rights and Entitlements and available support to you below.
