The CLA held a very successful gathering on Saturday. 25 care leavers of all ages from all over the country attended to meet, share and discuss current issues. There was a very real energy in the room focused on improving outcomes for care leavers of all ages. Some of the failures of the system experienced by people in care in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s are still being experienced by young people in care and leaving care now. This has to stop. The system needs to be improved. Young people in care and leaving care need to be at the centre of their care – they must have a voice. We will put more information about the issues discussed at the meeting on the site shortly.
