The CLA is working with Miss Macaroon a Birmingham based social enterprise which trains young adults coming out of the care system who aren’t in education employment or training through baking French macaroons. Training takes place in a real working environment. As well as basic pastry production skills, health and safety and food hygiene training, the young Care Leavers receive personal and social development training and support.
To help the young adults through their placements they are looking for mentors to provide support, encouragement and advice if needed. Mentors will receive an email introduction to their mentee and will need to commit to three phone calls at specific points throughout the placement. They would like to work with Care leavers of varying ages and backgrounds. You do not need any previous experience of mentoring.
