On 2 February, 2011 the British Association of Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) are holding a conference aimed at considering the impact of social networking sites on children and young people in foster care and foster carers at Woburn House Conference Centre, 20,Tavistock Square, London.
Social networking is rapidly becoming the communication medium of choice for children and young people and a large proportion of the adult population. What the impact of social networking on children and young people in foster care? Is it the answer to keeping in touch with parents, siblings, other family members and school friends or does it put vulnerable children and young people at risk? How can foster carers play their part in this fast moving digital world?
The conference will explore these issues from the different perspectives of children and young people in foster care, foster carers, social workers and specialists in internet safety.
BAAF will also use thise occasion to launch its new guides for foster carers and children and young people in foster care.
